Best get to know you questions dating

When we say, “I’m looking forward to getting to know you better,” we are attempting to convey to the other person that we want them to be a part of our life so that we can grow to be more like them or share our life experiences with them. It also means that we are interested in them and wants to be one of their close ones.

You never know what someone’s true intentions are until you spend more time with them. Some people are sincere, but others are inquisitive and like gossiping. Never provide too much information to people who bombard you with questions like “what do you like?” or “tell me about your family, relatives, friends” or “are you a virgin” etc. I would suggest you never entertain these questions coming from a stranger, especially if you are on a date.

If someone makes you feel uneasy, you can choose how much or how little information you want to share. And for this, you need a high analysing skill but if you don’t possess it then that is absolutely fine because we all are unique!

To make things easier for you, I have listed a few yet best get-to-know someone questions which you can ask them and know whether they deserve to be with you or not.

Best get to know you questions dating

When you were a kid, did you have any pup?

It is not good to directly ask your date about his/her childhood because this may make them feel that you are being overly interested in them which can give them a red flag. That is why it is better to ask them about their childhood pets indirectly. Family dogs often evoke heart-warming emotions, which can help you decide whether they foresee a future with a furry buddy or not.

If you are a dog lover then by asking this question you will come to know if they are into dogs or are just indifferent to animals.

Follow-up questions

For girl:

How many dogs do you have?

Or How many dogs know you in your area? Are they happy when you come back home after a long day?

Most of the girls love dogs. They just can’t get enough of these furry pals. It is truly said, “to impress a girl get her a dog.” I assure you if the girl loves dogs, she will talk non-stop about them.

If you are an introvert who doesn’t talk much then put this question in front and let her do the talking.

For boy:

How is your dog better than other dogs?

Or Why don’t you have a dog yet when you love them?

The questions are clear, I don’t think I need to explain why you should ask this follow-up. But yeah, make sure you come up with better questions from their response to keep the conversation going.

For a better human:

How is it for you when you try to feel your dog’s tears?

To be honest, trans people are more of emotional humans they see the world differently, feeling every living beings emotion. If you are on a date with them then ask this follow-up question to get to know how many emotions they carry for a dog.

Surely, you can ask this question to any human if you want to.

What kinds of things do you collect?

This question is for the ones who are into collecting things such as coins, currencies, antiques, jewellery, sandals etc. If it is a girl you are asking this question to then I would advise you not to force her to speak out the “why” because girls are more possessive over things that they love and do not usually talk about it with strangers.

This question reveals not only how they regard “things,” but also what they consider to be truly valuable. however, if they are a true collector, you should find out sooner rather than later so you can deal with it.

Follow-up questions

For girl:

Since how long have you been collecting it?

As I said above, do not ask the “why” girls don’t like the why questions much (obviously not all girls). This question will get her speaking and if she is comfortable talking about it then she will open up and tell you everything about her obsession.

For a boy:

Why did you choose to collect it? Why not something else?

Guys are chilled kind of people who doesn’t care what is being asked because they don’t over analyse things like girls (again, not all men). Asking him this will make him feel you are genuinely interested in him and this will make your date better. Also, you will get to know him.

For a better human:

What attracted you to it? Or why do you collect it?

You can be direct in your question with them because they rely on vibes than the words you speak. If your vibes are pleasant while asking, they won’t mind answering any kind of questions.

What is your favourite part of your job?

Obviously, not everyone enjoys their job, but we all have at least one part of our jobs that is our favourite. This question fits for both men and women, without hesitation, you can ask anyone. It is also a fun question to light up your conversation with your date. If you wind up together, this can tell you whether you’ll be listening to job complaints every day for the rest of your life or will have a chilled romantic moment if later you both decide to come into a relationship

Follow-up questions

Are you a coffee or tea person?

A debatable yet fun question to ask. Most girls love coffee and guys love tea but obviously not all like I am a tea person, it has some vibes in itself.

You can ask this question to anyone indifferent to gender. It is a light question and if taken the right way, can help you know your date’s preferences and point of view.

Why did you choose this job? Was it your childhood dream?

From here and there you can dig up their past life without letting them come to know that you are extracting information. You might feel like a spy…hehe…Just joking. This question enables you to know about their willpower, determination and mindset.

Follow-up question

What makes you think if it’s the right job for you?

Your date is probably facing the same thoughts about their jobs as you face so why not talk about it with them and discuss your similarities?

How good were your previous dates on the scale of 1-10?

I know you have read on other websites that it is not ideal to talk about other dates and relationships when you are on a date but here your goal is to come up with a savage reply after they answer it. Including a scale makes it easier to answer more abstract questions, as their responses are likely to fluctuate based on the day, situation, and mood. This can help you figure out what their aims are and how they relate to yours.

Follow-up questions

What made you agree to a date with me?

Now this question requires your creativity. Because if you ask this as an inquiry then your whole conversation might lose its spark, make sure you ask it the right way.

This place is nice, don’t you think you made it the nicest for me?

A little flirt is allowed on a date. If it makes your date blush then congratulation, they are having a good time with you.

Can you tell me about your music taste?

Talking about music is really loved by every human on this planet. But some people like me just don’t like songs… I know I know, shame on me but the point here is that if your music preference and their music preference varies then you people might not be compatible.

This question will make it clear to you whether they are good for you or not. Because songs can make or spoil the mood on a daily basis.

Follow-up question

What music has the most impact on your mood?

Perhaps they are fascinated by show songs or can’t stand classical music. Whereas a common musical taste isn’t necessarily a sweetheart deal or a deal-sealer, it can reveal not only their likes and dislikes but also how different songs affect them.

Which is your current favorite song?

The song they tell you if comes out to be your favourite too, then you can ask them for a dance! Well, this question will get you to know their choices and the reason behind that choice.
